Our Centre is warm, inviting and beautifully refurbished with careful attention to colour and art. It is the perfect venue for reflective time. There is a distinct sense of the sacred here, which is attributable not just to the surroundings but also to the rich spirituality and care of the team who work here. We pray that those who spend time here will experience a spirit that will touch their lives in a meaningful way.
Since 2001 the De La Salle Pastoral Centre in Belfast has been providing quality Retreat experiences for young people and adults.
It is a place where young people and adults can feel free to be who they are and to be where they are on their faith journey.
The Pastoral Centre is a three story stand alone building on the De La Salle complex in Castletown, County Laois. It was originally the Juniorate boarding school of the De La Salle Brothers catering for the thirteen to sixteen age group. Then in the early eighties the Brothers began to host school retreats in the Centre, since then thousands of young people from all over Ireland have come through the Centre’s doors on retreat.
The centre is run by Sammy and Yvonne and welcomes those utilising the centre to the beautiful surroundings of Mellieha. It is a place of love, prayer, and welcome; the hospitality recieved here is second to none.
Saint Cassian's has been instrumental in the formation of Lasallian's in our district for a very long time. Originally, the house was our Juniorate (a school for young men who were working towards a vocation as a de La Salle Brother); when the time came for the Juniorate to close, Brother Damian Lundy FSC spoke to the Provicial and requested the house be used as a Retreat Centre for young people. The Provincial granted his wish for a period of two years, not expecting the idea to succeed. The centre, still working to the revolutionary Retreat Model created by Brother Damian, is still open today.
