CHAIR OF GOVERNORS Mr. Brian O'Donohoe
Every day is an open day at St. Joseph's College. You will always be welcome to visit us and see the school at work. During the first few weeks at the school, especially, there are opportunities for parents to come up and discuss with staff who will answer your questions about the education we are proud to offer at the College. Excellence for your child means not only academic success but also the development of the whole person, and therefore we see the partnership between the home and school as vitally important.
De La Salle Brothers, Founders of St Joseph's College
St Joseph's College is under the Trusteeship of the Great Britain Province of the De La Salle Brothers. The Brothers were founded in Rheims in 1680 by St John Baptist De La Salle. He was a priest of the Archdiocese of Rheims and through a series of events which he later understood as the work of God's Providence in his life, was drawn into devoting himself entirely to founding and conducting schools for the Christian education of poor boys.
A group of French Brothers arrived in England in 1854 and founded a school in Clapham. As the numbers of students increased the school moved to different locations to provide improved facilities. St Joseph's finally settled at Beulah Hill in December 1904, Since then the College has developed and adapted to answer the changing needs of the students and society. The Brothers have schools in many countries of the world. With their lay colleagues they continue to offer a Christian education to young people just as their Founder did in his day.
ACHIEVING PERSONAL EXCELLENCE
The school is based upon the values of the Gospel and the traditions and teachings of the Catholic Church and therefore Religious Education forms the basis of the curriculum and conduct of the school. We are a centre for educational excellence and cater for boys of all
We at the College want the best and only the best for every member of our school community. in order to realise this we have dedicated, professional staff who will work with students to help them go even further than they imagined they could. We believe your children are entitled to such an education.
