On Wednesday November 4th we will be launching the new District Newsletter.
This initiative is one of the key communications developments for the this year and it is aimed at improving channels of communication and helping enhance the sense of community within the District while also helping to strengthen and share our core values.
Over the last five weeks we have shared updates on the International Lasallian Days for Peace to keep you up to date with events throughout the District, and further afield.
We have also included ‘other news of interest’ to reflect what is happening in the Communities, Schools and Pastoral Centres, and these events will now form the basis of the District Newsletter.
The Newsletter will be distributed on the first Wednesday of each month via email and I am appealing to everyone with any relevant information to send it on for inclusion. It is encouraging to see that this has already started.
I am looking for any photographs and information on activities taking place in schools and pastoral centres, along with events within the Communities. All details can be forwarded to [email protected].
Progress is also being made on another of the key communications initiatives, the new District website, which is currently under construction and will be up and running in the near future.

De La Salle Junior School Malta marked the final day of International Lasallian Days for Peace with a special video created by Ms Danela.
Unfortunately the boys are spending a lot of time in class due to the pandemic so the teachers thought of a movement exercise and at the same time spend few minutes reflecting and meditating.

Staff and students at Beneavin De La Salle College, Dublin, have used video to celebrate International Lasallian Days for Peace.
One video was to pray for Peace and for our Lasallian Community all over the world, while the Transition Years celebrated ILDP with a video on the theme of ‘I Choose Peace’.
St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Downpatrick, Ireland, have had a busy few weeks in which they have incorporated ILDP 2020 into the school year.
Every junior RE class in the school received a lesson or two that focused on a PowerPoint titled “I Choose Peace”.
The students discussed and considered how we bring peace to ourselves, each other, school, home, community, and the world around us. They looked at Christian teaching on peace and how we could incorporate those ideals into our everyday life.
The students completed a task where they drew the world globe and round it, chose a number of situations they wished to find peace in during the incoming year, personal to each.
With what has been a difficult year for so many, it was an uplifting lesson which brought focus to the positives and supporting one another.
Attached are examples of the work they produced.
Preparations for the second International Assembly of Young Brothers are currently under way ahead of the event that will take place in Rome next year.
In October 2021 Young Brothers from all over the world will meet in the Generalate to reflect on how to respond and continue to work creatively in the face of the calls of the world, the Church and our Institute.
As part of the build-up to the assembly, entitled “Passionate Witnesses of the Fraternity” Br Robert Schieler, Superior General FSC, along with other Brothers, has posted a video message to all Lasallians.
In connection with the decisions of the 44th General Chapter, the young Brothers of the world have a voice to inspire the dreams and projects of the next Chapter General in connection with the future of the Lasallian mission in the world. The first IYBA was held in the Philippines in 2013.
As part of the preparations, Young Brothers will share their stories on how they are transforming the world through a recently-created blog.
The first story is from Peru as Br Sebastian Cornejo from RELAL explains how to be a passionate witness of fraternity through social networks. Click hereto read the blog.
