Headteachers Conference January 2005

The Lasallian Network held its January Headteachers conference at Kintbury. Sixteen Headteachers, including some ex-Headteachers, plus Brothers from the District Council spent twenty-four hours sharing and discussing issues related to the schools and the Network. Also present was Geert Mortier from the Belgium, who gave a paper on the Lasallian Schools in Flanders and its Lasallian Association.

The Conference began by looking back over previous the ASSEDIL conference ( ASSEDIL = European Association of Heads of Lasallian Institutions) and the previous Lasallian Assembly, but then turned its attention to the future. Plans regarding the preparations of the 150 Anniversary of Lasallian Presence in GB was discussed and further updates will be given at the June regional Headteachers Conferences. Also discussed was the need for an Educational Council and a proposition for the setting up of this Council will be taken to the Lasallian Assembly in March (18-20).

Formation for new teachers to the networks schools was considered a priority and some schools will be running individual inset days for their new staff, whilst St. Cassian’s will be running a day session next September, that will be open to all schools in the network.

One of the highlights is the Conference Dinner and the following social, during which much many ideas are exchanged and individual support given.

See the March edition of Lasallians Great Britain magazine for more details of the Conference.
